re:Orient plunges us into the fascinating Korean aesthetics of Pansori and Persian music, in these two «Orients» rich in sophisticated millennia cultures. Tabassian and his musical friends explore various modes and rhythms by imagining new musical landscapes where the five cardinal directions — East, West, North, South and Centre — create a narrative illustrated with pansori tales and Persian poems. A land is emerging where spirits and souls meet, where the stories of the two Orients respond, with, at the heart of this dialogue, the microtonality of pansori and Persian musical modes.
