Conservatoire de musique de Montréal - Salle de concert - Between 1:30 pm and 3:50 pm
“Love Songs” is a program of works by iconic Québecer Claude Vivier. Claude takes us on an intensely personal voyage into mysticism and poetry. The centrepiece: his whimsical but poignant “Love Songs” for 7 singers, a drama running the gamut from nursery rhymes and folkloric traditions, to deep questions of our place in the universe. This interdisciplinary program includes works with optional video by Indigenous artist Michael Greyeyes: the virtuoso piano solo “Shiraz”; and “Cinq chansons pour percussion”, performed for the first time on instruments Vivier intended. And It’s rounded out with an eery homage to Vivier by Christopher Mayo.
