LA OTRA ORILLA

Canada (Québec)
dance

Born in Quebec City and trained in Seville and Madrid, Myriam Allard has become a national reference in her discipline. In turn choreographer, performer, artistic director, mentor and teacher, she began her career in Spain, then danced in various productions in the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Scotland, Mexico, Colombia and Canada.

In 2006, in Montreal, she and singer/director Hedi Graja founded La Otra Orilla (the other shore), a space to voice their creative works. Inseparable from one another, they create poetic, decompartmentalized productions: an unexpected blend of dance, song, music and theater, rooted in the art of flamenco. While they have both immersed themselves in the technique and soul of flamenco during long years spent in Andalusia, their signature is resolutely contemporary and audacious. Their bold, original vision is echoed everywhere they go, and has earned them international recognition.

"Dancing to Hedi Graja’s gorgeous, elegiac voice, Allard is larger than life on stage."
